Rory McCarthy is a journalist and author. He spent a decade as a foreign correspondent with the Guardian, with postings in Islamabad, Baghdad, Beirut and Jerusalem. He has a degree in history from Cambridge and is working on a degree in Modern Middle Eastern Studies at Oxford.

He is the author of Nobody Told Us We Are Defeated, which explores the lives of Iraqis living under the US occupation.
